Differences Between the Editions

The board design and layout is the same for the Third and Fourth Editions. The size of he hexes changed between the two editions. Both base boards hold 37 hexes. Both version have an expansion to increase the hex count to 61 hexes.

Twilight Imperium: Third Edition

Designed to hold hex tiles that measure 3 13/16 inches (97mm) across the flats. The board breaks down into six pieces for easy transportation and storage. This board is compatible with Twilight Imperium 3rd edition (© Fantasy Flight Games).

Twilight Imperium: Fourth Edition

Designed to hold hex tiles that measure 4 inches (100 mm) across the flats. The board breaks down into six pieces for easy transportation and storage. This board is compatible with Twilight Imperium 4th Edition (© Fantasy Flight Games).

I also have an expander for Hex Board Style 2 to make it compatible with the 7-8 player layout.

Twilight Imperium: Fourth Edition Deluxe Board

Designed to hold hex tiles that measure 4 inches (100 mm) across the flats. The board breaks down into six pieces for easy transportation and storage. This board is compatible with Twilight Imperium 4th Edition (© Fantasy Flight Games). The deluxe board has a larger frame designed to place the decks of card on. It also has 6 pockets to hold tokens.

The token pockets are 1/4" (0.125") deep.

Prophecy of Kings (PoK) optional board section. Replace one of the Toke Pocket sections with the PoK section.

Options

Optional Oil Finish

I offer a optional oil finish. I am currently using Watco Danish Oil.

I have seen pictures from customers of their boards painted black and it looks great. I do not offer painting services.

The top image is Birch Ply taken with a flash, the lower image is with natural lighting (in the sun). The tokens are across the joints between different pieces of wood. Each piece of wood has a different color oil on it. From left to right the oil colors are:

• Plain Teak Oil, no color

• Golden Oak

• Cherry

• Fruitwood

• Medium Walnut

I also did some tests with the Oak wood I am using for the Limited Edition Numbered Collectors Accessory Hex Board Style 1 sets. Check out the color test with the Oak.

Optional Engraving

Engrave your name, company or saying on the outer frame of the board, subject to content review by Prawn Designs. It will be visible during play. The same thing will be engraved on all 6 pieces of the Hex Board. The space for the engraving is approximately 1/2" by 12". This will fit approximately 43 characters.

Hex Accessory Board Details

The boards and trays are made out of Baltic (Russian) Birch plywood. Baltic Birch is knot-free, but has "plugs". The boards are shipped assembled ready to play, in raw wood ready to be oiled or painted.

The boards are sturdy and heavy. The Hex Board Style 2 with the Expansion Accessory Board together weigh more than 8 pounds when packaged for shipping. Standard shipping is via United States Postal Service (USPS).
